The TAFE Directors Australia, Victorian TAFE Association, and the Victorian TAFE Development Centre have released a joint submission to the Productivity Commission Inquiry into the Australian VET Workforce.
"Key messages of the response include:
- There is a strong demand for workforce development across all sectors of the TAFE workforce to help deal with changes driven by governments, industry, social and economic conditions, and technological developments.
- A major challenge for the future will be the aging TAFE workforce.
- The pressure on TAFE providers to help with broad social and economic issues will require more adaptive teachers with an extensive range of teaching skills.
- There is a need to re-examine the current methods of measuring VET workforce performance.
- There is a need for a national VET workforce database."
