Call for papers

The conference theme, “Career guidance and development practices around the world”, creates a space for both academics and practitioners to present their work. Academics and researchers are requested to submit papers on “current research” surrounding career guidance and development practices within their respective field of research. Practitioners are requested to submit papers on “career guidance and development practices” within their respective area of practice.

This call for papers is for:

  1. Concurrent sessions (delegates choose which ones they wish to attend).
  2. Poster presentations

Concurrent Sessions:

There are two types of concurrent sessions, “research based sessions” and “practice based sessions”:

Research based sessions: These refer to scientific papers. Of particular interest will be research relating to cross-cultural career guidance and counseling, field-testing of new or innovative interventions, creative methods for gathering evidence demonstrating the success of interventions, and career guidance and counseling in developing economies. Please note that abstracts should not be limited to these suggestions only as all “cutting-edge” research will be seriously considered.

Practice based sessions: These refer to presentations on career guidance counseling and development within your country or region or specific area of practice. Subject matter relating to “where career guidance is accessed”, “what services are offered”, “professional status of career practitioners”, “funding models” and the like would be very useful. Presenters for this category will be selected based on their experience in their field of practice and not necessarily on their academic experience or background. Insights into “new” practices or “best” practices relating to career guidance, counseling and development will be useful.

All concurrent sessions should be no longer than 45 minutes with 15 minutes at the end for questions and discussion.

Poster (or other media) presentations: These provide opportunities for presenters to showcase new research, developments, programmes or products relating to career guidance, counseling and development. A formal time slot has been allocated in the programme for these presentations. These presentations may also take place before the daily programme begins, during refreshment and lunch breaks, and after the close of the daily programme. Poster sizes should be no larger than ‘A0’ and will be placed adjacent to the exhibition area. Presenters are to make themselves available during allotted times to answer questions for delegates. Please note that this call for poster presentations does not necessarily exclude presenters who wish to use other forms of media, such as computer or on video, as a means of demonstrating or modeling their research or new developments. Special consideration will be given to such requests.

Submission of Abstract
Abstracts are invited from practitioners and researchers. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words. Abstracts can be submitted for any of the following presentation types:

  • Research based sessions
  • Practitioner based sessions
  • Poster (other) presentations

Abstracts must be submitted by Sunday 15 May 2011. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and notification of acceptance or otherwise will be towards the end of May 2011. Please note that abstracts are to be submitted in English.
