Student membership

Applicants in this category are required to be studying either part-time or full-time towards a recognised career-specific qualification.

Associate membership

Qualifications: NA

Work Experience: Currently work in the career development field

Professional membership (PCDAA)

Qualifications: Bachelor degree qualification in a discipline relevant to career development (Relevant qualifications can include professional disciplines in psychology, counselling, education, human resources, rehabilitation, and social work.)

Work Experience: Significant career development experience (not less than two years full-time equivalent in the five-year period preceding the date of application)

Fellow membership (FCDAA)

By submission of an application that clearly demonstrates the applicant has met the required professional criteria, including Professional Membership with the CDAA for at least one year.

Life membership (PCDAA/FCDAA life)

Life membership is bestowed upon a professional member who has rendered outstanding service to the Association.


Changes to Membership Requirements forNew Members from 2010

CDAA, as a member of the Career Industry Council of Australia, is required to implement the Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners by January, 2012. CDAA fully supports the professional standards and will commence implementation of changes to requirements for new members from next year.

It is particularly important for you to note that as an existing member you will continue to retain your current membership after 2012, provided you meet continuing professional development requirements and, of course, work in accordance with CDAA’s Code of Ethics.
